UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE DALMATIA


As you start to discover the gem of Croatia – Dalmatia, you will be surprised by the number of cultural heritage sites under UNESCO protection in relation to the country’s relatively small area. Croatia’s collection of Roman remains is among the most impressive in the world with palaces, theatres and amphitheatres among the remains to be visited. Cities such as Split and Salona are home to well-preserved Roman structures.


Day 1: Arrival at Split airport, meeting with tour guide and departure towards Trogir, accommodation in hotel. After we take a rest and refresh we will have guided tour of town, a picturesque medieval town, including a visit to the Cathedral of St. Lawrence with its magnificent Romanesque portal and have dinner in a typical Dalmatian tavern.

Day 2: Morning departure for the Krka Waterfalls National Park. Touring of the waterfalls and a boat ride to the islet of Visovac for a visit to the Franciscan Monastery. Continuation of our drive to Šibenik, a historic town located in central Dalmatia and home to a plethora of attractions and points of interest. Visit to the Cathedral of St. Jacob (15th century), a masterpiece of the Gothic-Renaissance art. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 3: After breakfast transfer and guided tour of the ancient city of Salona, this includes an amphitheatre, basilica, cemetery and various other well-preserved structures. We proceed to Split, formed around the Diocletian palace (the residence of the Roman emperor Diocletian and now a UNESCO World Heritage site). Visitors are permitted entry into the palace and can view its fascinating excavated lower sections as well as notable features such as the four gates: Porta Aurea, Porta Argenta, Porta Ferrea and Porta Aenea. In the afternoon we will visit Mestrovic Gallery, designed by the famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović as his summer residence, today a museum which houses over 200 of Mestrovic's works.

Day 4: Transfer to Split airport, end of our services.
